There comes a day when

You uncover a lie

Beneath a long anchored truth

And there comes the day

You sigh out twenty five years of belief

And the relief that none of it was ever true

~

There comes a day when

The pen’s ink

Is burnt-bisque blood

Staining the page

Silhouette blue

~

There comes a day when

You find

Pain is a peculiar pleasure

And there comes the day

You finally accept hurting yourself

It’s no longer of any use

~

There comes a day when

You’re ready to be held

As the street-lighted night fades to drowsy morning dew

And then comes the day

What once buried you deep inside

Bridges you to another

Across softened whispered hues

~

There comes a day when

You may as well

Decide to live again

And therein lies the day

You embrace the possibility

Of no longer trying to disappear

But rather dare trying

Slid slidin’ away
